  1. We have again arranged for a few helpers to assist on the ground with hooking up, running wings, etc. but understandably they are not doing it for the love of gliding! and will be receiving payment.  Those of you with NO CREW who take advantage of their help, will be expected to contribute towards their payment (R550) per glider, but they are not dedicated crew for any specific pilot – they are there to help mainly with getting you all into the air.
  2. Overseas competitors will be required to obtain a S.African licence validation - please let me know if you are unfamiliar with the process. Cost thereof R525.00 which may be paid on arrival at Welkom.
  3. All competitors should ensure they have an FAI competitor’s license for 2015 as this is a requirement for the Nationals.
  4. Although oxygen will be available you are advised to bring your own filling connections as these will not be provided.
  5. Please note that the main hangar at Welkom is for the use & hangarage of the tug aircraft.  Gliders without trailers, or with open trailers should be allowed, if space permits, to use the hangar.  All other gliders should NOT assume they may park in the hangar.  Further hangarage, if there is sufficient space available, will be charged at R30 per day on a 1st come 1st served basis.  N.B. You all have serviceable trailers and if the weather is suspect, you can easily de-rig the gliders and put them safely and securely in their trailers.
  6. Weighing of gliders – a reminder that gliders carrying water are advised that they should NOT dump water on the scale. They must go-around and join the queue again having dumped the water off the scale.
  7. Camping is possible on the airfield but a minimal cost of R20 per day (to contribute towards the cost of cleaning materials, toilet rolls, etc.) will be made.  For those still to arrange other accommodation, there are numerous Bed & Breakfast establishments in Welkom – by choice, you want to select on the western side of town which is closer to the airfield.
  8. There will be catering (Kate) at the airfield and you are expected to keep your catering/drinks account in credit, or pay cash, when buying.
